In December 2001 before X-mas we visited again my beloved Grindelwald. This time it was so cold that I enjoyed day by day my thick winter coat. In one night the temperature on the Jungfraujoch (3454 m) reached minus 30,6 degrees centigrade (- 23,08 degrees Fahrenheit). Down in our valley we had minus 24 deg. centigrade (- 11,2 deg. Fahrenheit). But day by day the sun was shining and I enjoyed the snow, even when it was frozen.

The big chill did some exceptional things. For example my favourite watering-place, where I normally take a deep gulp - it was closed!! But I could hear water flowing! And the waterfall in the Lauterbrunnen-valley was also not right on duty! the Lauterbrunnen-valley looked like one could meet the Lord of the Rings there.

In this holidays I earned my pocket-money myself for the first time! The Jungfrau-Railroads gave me a job as a conductor and my friends, believe me, no one was joy-riding when I was there!! In the evening I was a bit tired afterwards.
